Vinales and Bezzecchi ‘Attack’ Each Other After Big Collision in Australia

MotoGP Australia 2024 attracted the attention of the audience, especially the accident that occurred between Maverick Vinales and Marco Bezzecchi in the Sprint Race, Saturday (19/10).

Maverick Vinales, a racer from the Aprilia factory team, was involved in a serious accident with Marco Bezzecchi, who was one of the racers from the VR46 Ducati satellite team on Lap 11 before the finishing flag was raised at the Phillip Island Circuit.

In this incident, the two racers were competing for fifth position, at that time Valentino Rossi’s pupil, Bezzecchi, slippedstream towards Vinales on the straight track at the Phillip Island Circuit.

Bezzecchi was unable to control the Ducati GP23 motorbike when it was about to enter the first corner, so it hit the back of Vinales’ RS-GP motorbike and a very violent and fatal collision occurred.

Bezzecchi, who started the race from fourth position, lay in the gravel after the accident. Meanwhile, Vinales immediately stood up and raised his middle finger towards Bezzecchi who was still lying down.

After carrying out further medical examinations in Melbourne, Bezzecchi revealed the cause of the collision.

“Maverick overtook me on the straight with a slipstream, and the turbulent wind made me lose balance because of the wind pushing outward so I couldn’t do anything to avoid contact with Vinales,” said Bezzecchi.

“I don’t care, in the end we were lucky to be fine, but I don’t like his attitude like that, if it were me in Vinales’ situation, I would first check the condition of the driver involved in the incident rather than raise my middle finger and say it’s better to ‘hell’,” Bezzecchi added.

Meanwhile, Maverick Vinales is still upset about the accident with Marco Bezzecchi. Vinales was also annoyed because he had not received the slightest apology from Marco Bezzecchi even though the two had met.

Vinales revealed that The Doctor’s student did not try to meet him to apologize.

“No, he didn’t come to say anything,” said Vinales.

The Stewards’ decision to give Marco Bezzecchi a long lap penalty because of the serious accident made Vinales feel quite satisfied with this decision.

“I will agree with whatever decision (stewards) make, even though I have a different opinion,” said Vinales.

“I was waiting for Bezzecchi to come and apologize directly to my face in the pits but I didn’t see him. However I braked in the right position where the braking point should have been at the end of the straight.”

“I received a lot of criticism and oblique comments. If you know how to race properly, wear your racing suit and come to my place,” added Vinales.
