PSV supporters are not welcome at the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain in Paris next week. Fans of the Eindhoven club are also not allowed to travel to the French capital. PSV calls the French decision “totally unexpected”.

The French authorities have opted for the travel ban due to previous disturbances with PSV supporters, writes Omroep Brabant. During riots prior to the Champions League match against RC Lens last October, 24 people were injured. PSV was then fined 25,000 euros.

France is afraid something like this will happen again. PSV has held discussions and challenged the travel ban. The club has also proposed other measures. “But to the great disappointment of the club, neither of them delivered the desired result,” writes PSV on the club site.

The club says it regrets both the decision and the timing. “All preparations had already been made and many costs were incurred. Moreover, the selection of Peter Bosz counted on the support of the loyal supporters.”

Tickets reimbursed

The two thousand supporters who purchased a ticket will receive a full refund. Any additional costs will not be compensated.
