will you choose the Alien or the Exorcist tonight?

New NBA night and on this Halloween evening, eight teams will try to surprise their opponent. Here is an overview of the four posters in the spotlight this evening, to the rhythm of the greatest classics of horror cinema.

The evening program:

  • Memphis GrizzliesMilwaukee Bucks à 1h
  • Dallas Mavericks – Houston Rockets at 1:30 a.m.
  • Utah Jazz – San Antonio Spurs at 2 a.m.
  • Los Angeles Clippers – Phoenix Suns at 3:30 a.m.

The Exorcist

Attention ! Here, we are not comparing this Grizzlies – Bucks to the classic released in 1973, but rather to the ignoble remake released in 2023. That’s a bit of what we feel when we look at the start of the Bucks season.

We expect to see a franchise that aims to terrorize its opponents, but in reality not at all. We find ourselves in front of the matches because of the past glory of the franchise and we know that it is not going to be good, but a miracle quickly happens.

In the end, just like the Exorcist remake, we knew it wasn’t going to be good, we put ourselves in front of it and it sucked.

Tune in at 1 a.m. to see if Doc Rivers’ men will continue to wallow in their poor performances or if they will finally decide to restore the nobility of a great franchise.

On a more serious note, the infirmary is perhaps the most terrifying point of this encounter. Khris Middleton will be absent and should be joined by Marcus Smart and Desmond Bane, injured during the match against the Nets.

American Nightmare

At 1:30 a.m., the Rockets take off towards Dallas (given the distance between the two cities, they could take the bus, in terms of carbon footprint, but that’s getting off topic). The Rockets intend to bring to life a American nightmare to the Slovenian Luka Doncic, and his gang made up of Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving. A meeting between orange ball artists is expected. In addition to the three names mentioned, Houston has Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun on its roster. In short, only players who can do great things with the ball in hand. What could be better than linking them to a film where everything is allowed, for a moment?

If all goes well, we can have a great time watching this match as is the case with the first opus of American Nightmare. But if the shots don’t go in, watch out for the purge.

In the dark

Spurs and Jazz are plunged into darkness at the start of the season. On the one hand, San Antonio had a lot of hype before the restart, but the reality on the ground is very different. The Texans are struggling to establish themselves like Victor Wembanyama next to his sneakers. Besides, the Frenchman is not even sure he will play this evening after a little injury yesterday. At best, he could emerge from the darkest corners of the Delta Center to terrify the Jazz players.

Speaking of Utah, what terrifies us is their record. A nice 0 points at the start of the season, for four defeats. An injury to Lauri Markkanen’s back further darkens this already very gloomy picture. The Finn could miss the meeting against Spurs. Taylor Hendricks, victim of a terrible leg injury a few days ago, is already out for the rest of the season.

See you at 2 a.m. to see if this meeting can have a nice surprise in store for us or if it will just join the many forgettable matches that an NBA season offers us.

Conjuring

What better way to end this terrifying evening than by reprising one of the greatest classics of horror cinema: Conjuring.

At 3:30 a.m., the Suns Slim Reaper Kevin Durant – a name that already sends shivers down your spine – leaves for Los Angeles to challenge the Clippers, at the Intuit Dome, a venue that seems to house a real curse.

The Voiliers are very strong away from home, having won against the Nuggets and the Warriors. However, once at home, it is impossible to win a single match. Worse still, the Clips are unable to finish the meetings. Two home games, two clutch defeats. First against the Suns in overtime then last night against the Blazers.

So, will the Angelinos be able to lift this curse with their first home win, or will the grim reaper at number 35 strike again? The answers at the end of the night.
