After having been a starter in the 4-1 Panathinaikos on Thursday for the second date of the league phase of the Conference League (he left at 26′ of the second half), this Sunday Enzo Fernandez saw a good part of the game from the bench very good win for <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/01/premier-league-manchester-citys-turnover-for-the-first-time-higher-than-manchester-uniteds/" title="Premier League – Manchester City's turnover for the first time higher than Manchester United's”>Chelsea against Newcastle: to dose the loads, the DT Enzo Maresca he sent him to the field with 18 minutes left by the young Belgian Roméo Lavia (he had played for him), when the match was already 2-1 on the scoreboard.
However, that time was enough for him to be important in the midfield. (shared the axle with the Ecuadorian Moisés Caicedo): He hit eight of the 10 passes he made, had one clearance, two tackles and won half of the duels he played against a team that was already trying to reach a tie with quite a few people on offense.
With his performance on this ninth date of the Premier League, Enzo reached the 735′ in 11 games so far in a season (eight as a starter) in which the Chelsea should have played the last round of the playoffs Conference League at the end of August. With that, it is the fourth most active field player on the teambehind Caicedo, Cole Palmer and center back Levi Colwill.
A triumph to catch on at the top…
Thanks to this 2-1 victory over Newcastle (goals by Nico Jackson at 18′ of the first half and by Palmer at 2′ of the second, Isak had temporarily equalized at 32′), Chelsea moved into fifth place in the Premier, one point behind Dibu Martínez’s Aston Villa, which would be occupying the last place for the next Champions League. He has 17 points (five wins, two draws and two losses; 19 goals for and 11 against), which is an important change compared to last season, in which he suffered even to get into the Conference.
