With gold and bronze, Mexico closes international badminton tournament in Peru | National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports | Government

After three days of competitions, the Mexican badminton team closed its participation in the Peru International Series 2024, held in Lima, this Sunday with a gold medal and a bronze medal.

The duo made up of Luis Armando Montoya and Miriam Rodríguez were proclaimed champions of the mixed doubles modality after defeating the Brazilian couple made up of Fabricio Farías and Jaqueline Lima in the final with a score of 2-1 (21-15, 17-21 and 21 -18).

The Mexicans kept their pace, after beating the hosts José Guevara and Inés Castillo in the semifinals by 21-15 and 21-11; Previously, they defeated the Brazilian couples Izak Batalha and Jeisiane Alves by 21-13 and 21-11, as well as Matheus Voigt and Tamires Santos with a score of 21-5 and 21-6.

For her part, Vanessa García achieved one of the two bronze medals that the tournament distributed in women’s singles after concluding her participation in the semifinal round, where she was beaten by the Canadian Chloe Hoang by 2-0 (21-15 and 21- 17), while the Brazilian Juliana Vieira was the winner of the test.

In men’s singles, Luis Montoya and Armando Gaitán finished the competition in the semifinals and quarterfinals, respectively, when they were dominated by the Israeli Misha Zilberman and the Guatemalan Kevin Cordon, with Zilberman being the champion of the category.
