The u13 team compensated for the absences of Lennard and Leon by having Paul strengthen the team and Quinn, as the oldest, always competed in the higher class for the team. The close battles showed that this strategy and loud cheering were also necessary to win a trophy at the highest level.
After a bye, there was a narrow 3:4 defeat in round 2 against third-placed SC Gröbenzell. But that was to be the only defeat that day.
In the consolation round, our boys defeated Ammerland-Münsing/Sachsenkam with a strong 6:1. Then we faced TSV Abensberg and the victories went back and forth: our 2-0 lead was equalized by the third team from the south, making it 2-2. After 2 more fights it was 3:3 and Maxim was allowed to compete for the decision again. A great Ippon redeemed the cheering Altenfurters and brought us into the fight for third place against KG Erlangen/Neuhaus/Lauf.
As on the North Bavarian, the boys fell behind despite fierce resistance: Paul lost to his strong opponent, but Lino also scored a class higher. Quinn put up a strong fight against the heavier opponent, but was then inferior in terms of strength. Felix also had a difficult task and was initially able to keep up quite well. Nevertheless, they were already 1:3 behind before the last 3 fights, so all victories were now needed to secure the cup. And this was actually achieved in the higher weight classes with complete confidence: Felix, Jonathan and Maxim secured 4:3 and third place at the highest level, the Bavarian championship, with ippon victories.
This success was celebrated extensively with the entire fan club and coaching staff over a cozy pizza meal.
