Wolff no longer sees Verstappen wasting the world title

Max Verstappen can win his fourth consecutive world title in Formula 1 this year. He is considered the title favorite, but Lando Norris is getting closer. Norris is still chasing the title, but Toto Wolff thinks that Verstappen will normally not waste the title anymore.

Last weekend in Mexico, Norris reduced his deficit to Max Verstappen in the world championship. The Dutchman still leads the championship with a lead of 47 World Cup points over Norris. With four Grands Prix and two sprint races to go, anything can happen. Norris remains hopeful, but Verstappen is still the big favorite for gold.

Few people seem to expect another title from Norris. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff also shares this opinion, although he does see a number of things that could cause tension. When OE24 asks Wolff whether Verstappen can still waste the title, he responds clearly: “Normally that won’t happen again. If he can deal with it calmly, then it’s done. Of course, it remains a kind of stress factor if you continue the battle. must still finish in the last race. That is why Max must be able to travel to Abu Dhabi with a lead of at least 26 World Championship points.” If Verstappen has that lead, it is impossible for his competitors to overtake him.
