World Cup finals, Nespoli out in the quarterfinals

World Cup finals, Nespoli out in the quarterfinals

The seventh World Cup final in his career was unlucky for Mauro Nespoli who, in the Olympics, showed up with last year’s bronze in this competition around his neck. The blue player, also a protagonist at the Paris Olympics, was eliminated by the Mexican Matias Grande with a result of 6-2, the start of his opponent being decisive and with a 28-27 and a 29-24 he immediately took the lead to 4-0 . Nespoli has a mountain ahead of him and tries to climb it with 28-27 in the third set which, however, is not enough because the Mexican also takes the fourth set 30-26 and flies to the semi-final. The winner of the 2024 World Cup is the Korean Kim Woojin who continues to dominate after the Olympic gold in Paris: this time his compatriot Lee Woo Seok (bronze at the Games in France) surrenders in the final with the result of 7-3 . The bronze medal of the Cup goes to the neck of the Brazilian Marcus D’Almeida who beats Matias Grande 6-2. Many surprises in the women’s Olympics where the Chinese Li Jiaman won the gold, beating Deepika Kumari 6-0 in the final after eliminating the Korean Jeon Hunyoung in the semi-final 6-2. For the Indian it is even the fifth silver in the World Cup final. In the upper part of the scoreboard, even more surprising is the elimination in the quarterfinals of the Olympic champion Lim Siheyon by the Mexican Alejandra Valencia who finishes in third place after the 6-2 in the challenge for bronze with the other Korean Jeon 6-2.
