Yankees are in their first World Series since 2009

With a dramatic home run by Dominican Juan Soto in the tenth inningthe New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Guardians 5-2 this Saturday and sealed their first ticket to the baseball World Series since 2009.

With his victory on Saturday, The ‘Bronx Bombers’ finished this American League Championship Series 4-1 overall.

Their rival in the World Series will emerge from the clash between the Mets, their New York neighbors, and the Los Angeles Dodgerswho dominate the National League Championship Series 3-2.

The Yankees will thus arrive with more rest to the ‘Fall Classic’ thanks to the thrilling victory in ‘extra innings’ in Cleveland, which fell on their side due to the stellar talent of Juan Soto.

With the game tied 2-2, the Dominican hit an explosive three-run home run that allowed his compatriot to score. Jasson Domínguez and the Mexican-American Álex Verdugo.

Getting to the World Series “is the best feeling you can have,” declared Soto, who already won a title with the San Diego Padres in 2009.

“We did a great job here.
We worked very hard from day one and now we are the best team in the American League,” he stressed.

The Dominican, who landed this season in the Bronx in a mega-trade with the Padres, was the fourth hitter with the most home runs of the year (41) and had already hit another two in this series.

A year after being out of the playoffs, the Yankees will appear in their 41st World Series and first since they beat the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009 and won their 27th title.

To do so, they had to overcome two initial runs by the Guardians, who will extend their 75-year drought without trophies.
