Lucknow: Qualifying rounds of the Yonex Sunrise Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta Memorial All-India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2024 were held at BBD Badminton Academy here on Tuesday.
The winners of the qualifying round will now participate in the main draw. In the men’s singles category, Rishank of UP defeated Siddharth Thakur of Maharashtra 15-10, 16-16, 15-8.Siddhant Salar of UP entered the main round directly due to the absence of Mohit Govada of Karnataka. Harshit Tomar of UP defeated 13th seed Dhruv Bansal of Chandigarh 15-13, 13-15, 17-15 to enter the main round.
In women’s singles, Taranjeet Kaur defeated Harni Raja of Tamil Nadu 14-16, 15-2, 15-10 to enter the main draw. In the men’s doubles category, Arsh Mohammad entered the main round with his partner Shankar Saraswat (Rajasthan). In mixed doubles, Mohd Arsh and Pragati Parida (Odisha) ensured their victory for the main draw Also, Amolika Singh and Mansi Singh, Sonali Singh, Chirag Seth, Tushar Gagneja, Tanisha Singh, Samriddhi Singh will get direct entry into the main draw.
In men’s singles, UP’s Siddharth Mishra (Host Kota) and Ansh Vishal Gupta (Host Kota) will play in the main round. In women’s singles, Simran Choudhary (Host Kota) and Sneha Singh (Host Kota) will be in action in the main round.
In men’s singles, UP’s pair of Atul Kumar and Pradeep Kumar (Host Kota) along with UP’s pair of Rama Singh and Sunita Singh (Host Kota) in women’s doubles and Shivam Verma and Sonali Singh (Host Kota) in mixed doubles will make it to the main draw.
