“You have to know how to turn the page”: Felice Mazzù talks about the Walloon derby and the Limburg derby – All football

Felice Mazzù approaches the Limburg derby which he will play as coach with Saint-Trond for the first time. But the Belgian coach also talks about the Walloon derby which will take place this Sunday.

As the new coach of Sint-Truiden, Felice Mazzù is preparing to play his first Limburg derby. Indeed, the Canaries face KRC Genk this Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

The native of Charleroi knows this derby well: “I experienced this derby, if you remember. STVV – Genk, this famous 3-3, where we led 0-3 with Genk. Two goals from the penalty spot by Ianis Hagi. And it’s 0-3, the match is stopped because of excesses. In the last 20-25 minutes, Saint-Trond comes back to 3-3. So I know the value of derbies. Charleroi and Standard I know the atmosphere is different.”

“I’m very excited and quite eager to be here on Sunday, and to be able to play against the best team in Belgium today. I say today in the results, because they are first, but certainly in the way. Fink reestablishes superb football with results,” explains the coach at the microphone of DAZN.

“We are ready, we are excited, we want to. I know the values of a derby, how opposing audiences can fight each other. We will have to be emotionally ready. Football-wise, we will be ready. We know that we will play against a big, quality team which is intrinsically better, but I know that my team is capable of putting on a good match.”

Standard – Charleroi, a special match for Mazzù?

Mazzù also spoke about the match between Standard and Charleroi this Sunday: “Am I going to watch this match with special attention? No, not particularly. I don’t know if I will watch the match, maybe that I will look at it.”

“Of course I won’t be as emotional as when I was coach. I’ll look at him like two opponents that I’ll meet soon. I think we need to know how to turn the page and close the book. Today , I closed it and I devote myself to my new club.”
