3 major NFL trades we’d like to see in the 2025 offseason

The 2025 NFL offseason isn’t too far away, so let’s try to concoct three trades we’d like to see happen in a few months. In my opinion, teams have become more aggressive in recent years in trying to put together the best team possible for the Super Bowl.

We’ve seen some major trades across the NFL recently, and I think that will only increase. And in my opinion, the quarterbacks have also been more aggressive in their own moves. Whenever Tom Brady left the New England Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers several years ago, I think it started a huge trend of other QBs wanting to play for other teams.

And other non-quarterback positions could see a lot of movement in the coming months. The 2025 NFL offseason isn’t that far away, so let’s break down three trades we’d like to see happen.

This is me getting a little weird. I can see a scenario where the Dallas Cowboys really blow up this upcoming offseason. The roster just isn’t good, and with head coach Mike McCarthy in the final year of his contract, he’s unlikely to return. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb recently got contract extensions, but it’s not like the Cowboys are about to win a Super Bowl.

A smart move for the future of this franchise could be trading QB Dak Prescott, who faces a long recovery from hamstring surgery. This would be a bold move for the Tennessee Titans, but they have some nice pieces on defense and studs on offense that Prescott could use. Second-year QB Will Levis isn’t really developing into a starter-caliber QB, so Titans general manager Ran Carthon might see an opportunity to make a bold move. And since the AFC South is a bad division, Prescott on the Titans could make them a viable contender.

And this? Many of you reading this have probably seen your valuation of Bo Nix shaken up in recent weeks, as it appears the Denver Broncos have found their long-term answer. Sean Payton and the team’s front office clearly wanted Nix, and over the last seven weeks he has played crazy and been one of the most effective QBs in football.

Well, one position the Broncos are missing is a true alpha at WR. Courtland Sutton is a high-end two, but he’s not a real one. Maybe the Cincinnati Bengals would be willing to trade Ja’Marr Chase? I mean, this franchise is historically cheap because they couldn’t get an extension with Tee Higgins and still don’t have one with Chase.

I understand that Joe Burrow and Chase are close and would probably never want to not play together, but if the Bengals aren’t willing to accommodate Chase’s demands, wouldn’t a trade make sense? The Denver Broncos will have a ton of cap space and their 2025 first- and second-round picks to make a hypothetical deal.

Just wonder if the San Francisco 49ers would be willing to give up a veteran contract or two to give themselves some cap space. They may want to extend Brock Purdy next offseason, and this team has a ton of high-end contracts on their roster. One player that I believe is no longer banned is George Kittle, who has always been banged up but is now the most complete tight end in the NFL.

A team like the Los Angeles Chargers could come calling to give quarterback Justin Herbert another weapon. According to Over The Cap, the 49ers would save $15 million on their 2025 cap hit with a Kittle trade and absorb a dead charge of just over $7 million. This may be a lot for them, considering Kittle is aging into his 30s.

And the Chargers could get a fun weapon for a year or two as they move toward opening a Super Bowl window.
