Luis Suarez will remain Lionel Messi’s teammate at Inter Miami for another year. The Uruguayan all-time top scorer extended his contract with the American club by one year, until the end of 2025.
Suarez’s move to co-owner David Beckham’s club in January this year has been a success so far. The 37-year-old striker was crowned the club’s top scorer last season, with 23 goals in all competitions. He has already worn the club’s pink shirt 37 times.
“Luis Suarez has shown at our club why he is one of the best strikers of all time. He performed at a top level for us and we look forward to seeing him at work again next season,” said sporting director Raul Sanlehhi.
Inter Miami has had a new trainer since Tuesday with the Argentinian Javier Mascherano – an ex-teammate of Suarez. The former midfielder succeeds his compatriot Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, who had to leave after the elimination in the eighth finals of the play-offs against Atlanta United two weeks ago. The elimination meant the season was over for Miami. The MLS competition will restart on February 22.
