Nagaoka Cup; Ljubljana, SI
Last weekend, 6 young Reichraming judokas, including their trainers and parents, made their way to Laibach. As a joint team LV Upper Austria, our boys and girls took part in the 60th Int. Mini Nagaoka Cup, which was very well attended with over 500 athletes from 57 clubs and 7 nations.
Joel Gassenbauer is unlucky at the VM in the U12 age group. There was no opponent available in his weight class, so he was moved up to the next class. However, we were able to survive the first round against much heavier opponents. This was followed by 2 defeats and 5th place
In the afternoon our 5 starters in the U14 age group won 5 medals for the LV Oberösterreich. Christoph Grimm (-34kg) is celebrating the gold medal just like last year. In a purely Upper Austria final against Alexander Reder he prevailed with 3 Shidos. In the -38kg class, another Reichraminger, Simon Gierer, made it to the final thanks to courageous fighting. But Simon has to bow to his opponent from Slovenia there. In the same class, Maximilian Hron fought his way to the semi-finals, which he unfortunately lost. So Maximilian continued the fight for third place. Motivated, he achieved victory there and deservedly won the bronze medal. Julian Neubauer-Swallow (-46kg) wins the bronze medal, just like last year. Julian only lost one fight in the preliminary rounds, but he confidently took third place in the consolation round. Lisa Krempl is also happy about this in the -44kg class. Congratulations to all medal winners.
LV Oberösterreich took the overall ranking with 6 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze.
After the tournament, a large part of the Reichraminger delegation stayed in the Slovenian capital for a cozy get-together. The kids’ successes were toasted with good food and drink until after midnight. Thanks to Jürgen Gierer for organizing the accommodation and all the other parents for the nice trip together.
