JAKARTA – The majority of Indonesian badminton players playing at the 2024 China Masters are still surviving out of a total of 11 representatives sent to the event.
The first round match of the BWF Super 750 level event concluded on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, WIB evening. Indonesia also received three extra tickets out of the six representatives playing.
The three tickets were obtained by the mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah / Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, the doubles son Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianto and the doubles girl Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
Previously, on the first day yesterday, November 19, 2024, Indonesia also got the same number of tickets out of the five representatives playing.
The tickets were secured by the men’s singles duo, Jonatan Christie and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, as well as the men’s doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama / Mohammad Reza Punkvi Isfahani.
The number of Indonesian representatives who qualified for the second half of this tournament could be larger if no one competes directly.
The clash between Indonesian representatives in the first round occurred between Sabar/Reza against Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, Fajar/Rian against Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana and Febriana/Amallia against Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.
Febriana/Amallia secured a ticket after their opponents withdrew. The decision not to continue the game was made because Lanny suffered an arm injury after making the wrong decision.
The second half match series on Thursday, November 21, 2024, will start at 09:00 local time or 08:00 WIB.
