This weekend, 13 students and teens from the Altwarmbüchener Badminton Club (ABC) went to Magdeburg-Ebernfelde for the first time in Saxony-Anhalt for the national district rankings U11 to U19.

Mia Wächtler celebrated a double tournament victory. First she won the U11 girls doubles together with Emma Florentine Schäfer from TuS Sandau. She then won against her doubles partner in a thrilling final with 20:22, 21:17 and 22:20.

Ben Hensel also won two tournaments, first winning the U11 boys’ doubles final with Max Wächtler and then winning the club final against Max.

Kerani Panthulu won as a U13 player in the U15 girls’ singles with 21:17 and 21:19 against Rike Jänicke from TuS SW Bismark. Merit Grethe won the U17 girls’ singles final as a U15 player against Malena Gasch (SV Havelberg) in two sets.

Jingyang Zhang and Moritz Haake achieved second place in the U11 boys’ doubles as a U9 pairing. In the boys’ singles U11, Jingyang narrowly lost with 19:21, 28:26 and 15:21 against Fynn Adi Grenda from TuS SW Bismark, who was two years older.

Third places were also achieved by Moritz Haake in the boys’ singles U11 as a U9 player, as well as Leonie Lippels in the mixed U13, Kira Hein in the mixed U15 and Tulya Panthulu in the girls’ singles U17.

“Strong record with 6 times 1st place, 4 times 2nd place and 4 times 3rd place, great games against opponents that we have never had before because of the state,” said a satisfied ABC coach Frank Heise.
