A closing with a positive balance

Marcelo Torres won the bronze medal and closed a great National Clausura Judo tournament at the “Federación” stadium. The balance from the organization left a highly positive balance, stated the Jujeña Federation of the specialty.

No one was missing from the event that lowered the curtain on the 2024 calendar of the Argentine Judo Confederation and Jujuy, through the Government of the province, the mother entity of this sport, did a great job to make the party complete.

That’s why Daniela Campos said that “this is the product of months of working for this National Clausura to take place, very happy despite everything, because something always comes out, but very excited with the finals, with everything that was a weekend to pure judo in our province,” commented one of the organizers, adding “it was all very beautiful and gratifying to receive praise from the authorities of the Argentine Judo Confederation about how it was experienced.”

For her part, Claudia Campos, also a member of the organizational staff of the Jujeña Judo Federation, remarked that “working together with the Government of the province was important, from the first moment, Governor Carlos Sadir made all areas available so that this can be an unforgettable competition, providing the best comforts to judokas from all over the country, the great work of the Sports Secretariat, the teachers.”

In addition, he said that “it was something very nice to see that former judokas, former students of our sensei Dante Cichello who we had not seen for years, did not hesitate to come and lend a hand in whatever it may be, they also formed part of this entire great organization,” he stressed. .

In sports, the Campos sisters agreed that “there was a great level in each category, because competitors came from all over the country, some who are members of the Argentine National Team, others who by ranking are on the verge of joining, so even the great Paula Pareto, her coach Laura Martinel, were present, because it is a tournament that awarded points for the Argentine ranking and everyone came for those points,” they detailed.

And on the last day of competition it was no exception, the kyu category also excelled on the four tatami mats, demonstrating that Argentina has a lot of potential in judo.

Marcelo Torres, bronze

In the struggle, Marcelo Torres introduced the lever to Carlos Pistono from Tucumán, who had no choice but to give up and jumped for joy for third place. “This medal means a lot to me as an athlete and as a person,” said the man from Jujuy excitedly. For “Chelo” Torres it was “the second time I have measured myself in this category, the first one did not go so well but now I am getting used to it and I hope to continue like this in future matches,” he expressed to the newspaper El Tribuno de Jujuy. And being the host, the pressure for the judoka, who had 19 competitors in his bracket, was imminent “being at home I felt the obligation to do good fights and leave my club, my province high,” he said and added “luckily I had the support of family and friends for training.” Finally, he acknowledged that “the most beautiful thing of all is being able to have such an important event in the province,” concluded Marcelo Torres in the senior category up to 66 kilos.
