It is said that in the darkness all colors look alikeand everyone the senses expand. To make everyone understand that to see you need the heart and intuition more than sight, i Blind and Visually Impaired Sportsmen of Varesini – association affiliated to Uisp – they organize Friday 29 Novemberat 8pm, in the canteen Out of context in via Dunant di Varese, one Inclusive Dinner Without Seeing.
This is a format already tested many times and what has always happenedin which one can put oneself into play and become blind for an eveningrefining your senses, immersing yourself in the unknown and letting yourself be carried away by the flavors and aromas of food.
«It will be a unforgettable sensory journey» promises Antonella Cagnetta newly elected to the Board of Directors, alongside the other councilors: Antonella Poretti, Andrea Priola and Giuseppe Rosafio, the latter also captain of the bxc baseball team, holder of the recently won title of Italian Champions.
«Part of the proceeds from the dinner will be used for cover the expenses of the CISV association which allows blind and partially sighted people to practice numerous sportssuch as baseball, swimming, rowing, alpine and cross-country skiing, tandem cycling, SUP on Lake Maggiore. And also rafting, dancing, yoga, bowling and a new table football experience with a prototype of a sound ball.”
Another project of inclusive dinners without seeing could be organized in Laveno Mombelloinvolving the councilors Barbara and Elisabetta, together with the president Sivelli of Officine dell’Acqua. It’s already with them the Deep Blue project is activewhich has already given the extraordinary thrill of paragliding.
Guests will arrive a little before 8pm, when they will be welcomed and accompanied to the tables in a completely dark room (it will not be necessary to cover your eyes). The blind and visually impaired will be serving the tables and it is collaboration request by the diners to pass the dishes, which will also encourage mutual understanding. There dinner is secret precisely to stimulate the senses to discover the dishes, from the appetizer to the dessert. Francesca and Stefania will be in the kitchen.
During dinner they are musical entertainment and surprises will be provided to involve participants. It will be given space for curiosity of those present who wanted to learn more about the world of the blind.
Even i children can participate if they are not afraid of the dark (only in the bathroom there is a light). It is an informal dinner: no special dress is necessary. Finally, to gradually get used to the light, the coffee is served by candlelight.
During dinner you are asked to turn off your cell phone and light watches which would ruin the effect.
Dinner also constitutes an opportunity to raise awareness of the association’s activitieswhich has just renewed the board of directors, confirming the presidency of Giovanni Castiglione which returns to two important themes: the need to have a new headquarters with warehouse and a larger number of volunteers to accompany the blind in various sporting activities.
