Wednesday November 20, 2024, the first meeting of the season between Badminton Rosporden and the Bannalec club took place at the Colette-Besson hall, in Rosporden. For the occasion, the locals chose to organize a draw between players from the two clubs. A welcome novelty. “The idea was to mix the two teams for more challenge, in one-set matches, so that everyone could enjoy the evening. We concluded with our traditional buffet, to continue chatting over a drink. An evening greatly appreciated by the 45 players present,” summarized Élodie Nicolas, the president.
More than 40 people on Saturday morning
This season, the Rosporden badminton club is full, with 135 members. “We explain this historic enthusiasm for our association by the Olympic Games this summer, in Paris, which must have motivated the public to register in sports clubs, at the start of the school year in September.” To satisfy as many people as possible, the club had to extend its Saturday morning slot and divide it into two sessions: from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Between 40 and 50 people attend classes on this single morning.
First meeting with Quimper
“We also had to set up an application, Spond, via which members can directly register for the slot of their choice,” explains Elodie. For the club, the year remains busy. A sports meeting is planned each month with the clubs of Bannalec, Scaër, and Ergué-Gaberic and, for the very first time, with the Secular Association of Quimper. “Our biggest event remains the third edition of our charitable leisure tournament, which will take place on Saturday April 26, 2025,” underlines the president.
