A wonderful meeting of friends and a judo party took place last weekend with the 2024 Judotechnic Cup National Club Tournament, which was attended by Prisca Awiti, Olympic medalist from Paris 2024, and the mayor of Azcapotzalco, Nancy Núñez Reséndiz , who presented a recognition to the athlete and highlighted this event to promote sport from its bases.
The actions of this event held over the weekend at the “Victoria de las Democracies” Deportivo, in the aforementioned district of Mexico City (CDMX), began early in the morning with the arrival of practitioners of the martial art and their families from different states of the Mexican Republic.
From this beginning, the judokas showed great spirit to start their competitions, since as soon as they entered the gym they immediately went to the six tatami areas to do warm-up exercises, while the arrangements for the official opening began.
For this official ceremony, special guests attended, including the Honorary President of the Mexican Judo Federation (FMJ), Manuel Larrañaga Bonavides; as well as the Director of Sports Quality of the CDMX Sports Institute (INDEPORTE), Yoalli Jonathan Hernández Martínez.
Likewise, there were the Academic Director of the National College of Sports Training Professionals (CONAPRENDE), Dr. Abdías Salazar Salazar; as well as Kyoshi Josué Arredondo, representative of the Okinawa Seito Karate Do and Kobudo Hiroshima Shudokan of Japan in Mexico.
At around 10:30 a.m., the order was given for the competitors to line up to begin the formal ceremony, and then Prisca Awiti made an appearance, as did the mayor of Azcapotzalco, Nancy Núñez Reséndiz, who with great He greeted those present and the Olympic medalist, for whom he asked for a cheer from all those present.
After the cries of “Prisca, Prisca, Prisca!”, the mayor highlighted the presence of the winner of the silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to whom she presented a recognition on a metal plaque, for example and motivation that it represents for all Mexicans, especially for children and youth.
Likewise, he highlighted the presence of Prisca Awiti in the 2024 Judotechnics Cup, in addition to highlighting and recognizing the work of its organizers and participants, for promoting a tournament to promote physical activity and sports from the grassroots, particularly in the Azcapotzalco mayor’s office, where These activities will be an important part of the development of the community.
For his part, the Honorary President of the FMJ, Manuel Larrañaga Bonavides, was pleased with the attendance of the Olympic medalist and all the guests and competitors at this great interclub judo party.
Likewise, he reported that, given the relevance that the Judotechnics Cup has gained over more than 20 years of being held, it was decided that it would be the ideal setting for carrying out the exam for national referees of the Mexican Judo Federation.
After this news, which was applauded by those in attendance, a surprise announcement was made to present a special recognition by CONAPRENDE and by Mayor Nancy Nuñez to Professor Jesús Rosas González, organizer of this tournament.
This distinction was “for his extensive sporting and teaching career in Physical Culture and Sports, for more than 30 years, in favor of the promotion, diffusion, development, strengthening and sporting and competitive results of national JUDO and especially the JUDO of Mexico City.”
Once the opening ceremony was over, the order was given for the competitors to do a brief warm-up, to immediately give way to the competitions.
As soon as the first judokas entered the six tatami areas, shouts of support and cheers from teammates and their families flooded the space, in what were intense meetings of practitioners from beginners to advanced.
Thanks to the number of areas and the organization, the competitions took place one after another without interruption, until it was time for the finals and the counting of points to award the Cups by Category and for the Grand Champion, who were the winners. following:
