Lille coach Bruno Genesio was satisfied with a “very good point” taken against Juventus (1-1) in the Champions League on Tuesday at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, “which will matter a lot”.
Losc managed to open the scoring through Jonathan David (27th) before being joined in the score in the second period on a penalty scored by Dusan Vlahovic (60th), which seemed obvious given the Turin mastery.
“We managed to score on one of the rare chances we had in the match, but then we suffered in the second half at the start of the second periodI recognize Bruno Genesius. Then the debates became a little more balanced, we were able to defend very well, which was important, because I think it’s a point that will count a lot.”
“If we managed to take a point tonight, it’s a work of the whole team, of the whole group, because we were very well organized defensivelyadded the 58-year-old coach. Even though we suffered, we all made the effort, which was essential to take points tonight. (…) Over the whole match, it remains a very good point taken this evening.”
This point allows Losc to increase its total to seven units, which places the northern club in twelfth place.
Opposite, Juve coach Thiago Motta recognized that Lille “was very well defended”. “They started the match with a very specific idea: to counter-attack”he insisted.
