Aaron Fara: An Austrian judoka is pushing his way onto the big wrestling stage

Aaron Fara represented Austria at the Olympics, now he wants to get started in the WWE. How the judoka unexpectedly got the chance for a new start and what he experienced during his wrestling trial training in the USA.

The world’s largest wrestling promoter is fishing for an Austrian judoka. Aaron Fara, who recently competed at the Olympic Games, has received an offer from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), which he describes as “too good to be true”. Although “nothing is fixed” yet, a door has opened for the 27-year-old at exactly the right time.

Because when Fara lost his first judo fight under the sign of the five rings in Paris around three months ago after just 76 seconds and the games were therefore over for him, he fell into a mental hole. The ray of hope came with a message on Instagram. “I was lying in bed, half depressed, when I received a message from WWE that they wanted to invite me to a tryout in Florida,” says the 1.93 meter giant. Initially dismissing the interest as “fake”, the Lower Austrian then skipped one or two online meetings, but at some point it dawned – and Fara put everything on one card.

“We were treated like kings, were chauffeured around in a Cadillac limousine, it was impressive.”
