A week after a victory down to the wire at Brissac-Aubance (70-72), Adour Dax did not manage to follow up with Rezé, who returned to the level of his evening opponent in the ranking, this Saturday (74- 70). Due to a particularly tight opening match for the reserves, the match started a good quarter of an hour late. And seeing the performance made by the two teams in the first ten minutes, this discrepancy was not without impact. And more especially on the Adour side, which had a series of blunders during ignition.

A situation which frustrated the Landais, sanctioned with a first technical fault. On the Rezé side, Sarr found the solution under the circle and Dax proved too inconsistent to compete (17-11, 10th). In the second quarter, the Grands Dacquois still had difficulty taking care of the ball, but Corentin Carne kept his team in the match. On his second long-distance shot, which allowed the ADB to take the advantage for the first time (28-27, 17th), Rezé coach Donald Chantreau had to take a time out.

Rezé did the hardest part

Three minutes later, with an acrobatic penetration at the buzzer, Carne allowed his team to return to the locker room with a lead on the scoreboard (30-33, 20th). After the break, Mansaré came out of his box but the appearance of the match did not change: at the start of the last act, Adour Dax maintained a three-point gap (54-51, 32nd).

The match became tougher and Carne was penalized with a technical foul for yet another challenge. Hindered by mistakes in the second and third quarters, Sarr excelled in defense by blocking the intentions of Gardesse and his teammates. And in attack, he took advantage of the absence of a pivot to use his physique. Four minutes from the siren, Rezé seemed to have done the hard part by taking a 13-point lead after a three-pointer from Jaunin. The Adébistes did not admit defeat, like Mansaré behind the arc (70-63, 37th). Carne had the opportunity to bring his team back to within one possession (72-68, 39th), but his shot bounced on the circle: the ADB had missed its chance.

Reaction

Jean-Baptiste Oyhanando (Adour Dax coach) : “Our little slump in the last quarter cost us the match. We made defensive stops in the third quarter to make a gap, but we did not materialize in attack. Against a very good team in this championship, it’s difficult to win by missing throws and small shots under the basket. We also got off to a bad start in Brissac, but we managed to thwart them afterwards. This (Saturday) evening, it did not happen. It’s an away match that we could have taken, but there will be others, too bad. »
