Bahrain previously asked the AFC to move the match against the Indonesian national team to a neutral venue because they were worried about the safety of their players.
This is because the players received a number of threats from Indonesian netizens after the match at the National Stadium, Rifa, 10 October 2024.

The AFC reminded this so that the Indonesian National Team does not suffer losses in the form of potential sanctions.
The Indonesian national team will continue its struggle in Group C of the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asia Zone. The Garuda squad is scheduled to meet Japan on November 15 and Saudi Arabia on November 19.
These two matches will be played at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta. AFC hopes that PSSI and Indonesian National Team supporters can welcome Japan and Saudi Arabia well.
“The Secretary General of the AFC wants PSSI and Indonesian national team supporters during the home match at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium to be good hosts and avoid things that would be detrimental to the Indonesian national team and PSSI as the host,” said PSSI Secretary General (Sekjen), Yunus Nusi .
Yunus stated that PSSI always tries to serve every visiting team that comes to Indonesia as best as possible.
“PSSI and Indonesia must prove that what Bahrain is worried about will not happen in Indonesia,” said Yunus Nusi.
On the other hand, PSSI also reminded AFC to understand the response from the Indonesian football public which was considered sometimes excessive. This, said Yunus Nusi, proves the great love the people have for their national team.
