After silver and bronze also team bronze

Samira Bock (-70 kg, TSV Munich Großhadern – BY) ends all fights up to the final early with Ippon. The quarterfinals in particular were a very exciting fight. After just over a minute she was behind with Waza-ari and two minutes later she was lightning fast in a confusing situation and pierced her opponent Maya Kogan from Israel. “At first I thought she would get up, but then she didn’t and I took advantage of the situation on the ground and won,” she says happily about the end of the fight. Only in the final against the Austrian Elena Dengg did she find her champion. “I felt good, but I injured my foot relatively early on. The final was actually already decided. I have the feeling that I could have shown more.” After five and a half minutes, Samira Bock loses with Waza-ari and becomes vice-European champion.

“I’m obviously disappointed that it didn’t work out in the final, but I’m basically happy with my day at the competition,” she sums up.

Also Daniel Udsilauri (TSV-Erbach – BW) wins the first two heavyweight fights in less than half the fight time with two Waza-ari each. However, in the semifinals he lost to the Georgian Irakli Demetrashvili with waza-ari and ippon. After almost five minutes of fighting, he threw Ippon against the Estonian Karl Prilinn Turk and won bronze.

Victoria Folger (Sportfreunde Kladow – BE) and Sarah Mehlau (SV Winnenden – BW) both finished seventh.

The mixed team competitions took place this Sunday. The German team won 4-2 after a bye against Azerbaijan and is now in the semi-finals against Georgia. Only Anna Monta Olek wins a fight against the eventual European champion, the German team goes into the fight for bronze with a 1:4. The team was very confident on the mat against Israel and won the bronze medal 4-1.

After it was in the individual competition for Anna Monta Olek (JT Hannover – NS) was very unfortunate and she lost in the first fight in the Golden Score with a surprise attack from her opponent from Poland, she was a safe bet for the team, was used in every match and won all of her fights.

After winning the European Championship last year in Potsdam, the German team is showing strength again this year and is following up with another medal.

The bronze medal had another meaning. The team dedicated the bronze trophy to a special person. “It is a special gift from the team for me as I say goodbye to my international work,” says Otto Kneitinger, enthusiastic about the result and happy together with the team.
