Carlos Alcaraz is counting to be in the semifinals of the Nitto ATP Finals 2024, which will be held this week at the Inalpi Arena in Turin (Italy). The Spaniard resurfaced last Wednesday after beating the Russian Andrey Rublev in two sets (6-3 and 7-6), despite the discomfort that has been with him for a few days and that forced him to play with a nasal strip to improve his breathing.
“It could be better, I’m not going to lie. Today I thought that I was going to feel better, that I was going to be fine to play. In the first match I thought a lot that I was bad, that I couldn’t play… today I jumped on the court thinking about playing well to try to give people a good show,” the tennis player explained in the interview at the end of his match.
Alcaraz not only achieved a valuable victory against Rublev, which keeps him in the fight to enter the Nitto ATP Finals 2024, but he also recovered his sensations.
“He has played very well. Nothing to say. When he plays like that, there are only, I don’t know, one or two players who can stop him…”, assured the Russian, who still has a chance of being in the next phase of the tournament.

After the results of the group, the Murcian could go first in the group. On the third day, he will have to win against Zverev and hope that Rublev does him a favor with Ruud. Regardless of the sets, if both cases are met, Alcaraz would be the leader and could even avoid the Italian Jannik Sinner in the semifinals.
