Alejandra Valenciabronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, secured her place in the Round of 16 of women’s individual archery, in a day with mixed results for the Mexican representatives.
Valencia defeated Jennifer Muciño of the United States in the Round of 32, while in the Round of 32, she defeated Veronika Marchenko of Ukraine.
Her next rival in the Round of 16 of the women’s individual archery competition is the Chinese Li Jiaman, on August 3.
For his part, the Mexican Matías Grande is also still alive in Paris having had a similar performance. The current Pan American champion defeated Baatarkhuyag from Mongolia in his first duel and then in the round of 16 against Jorge Enríquez from Colombia.
Grande, only 20 years old, will resume his participation on August 4 in the Round of 16 of men’s individual archery.
Those who could not advance to the next round were Valencia’s teammates, Ana Paula Vázquez and Ángela Ruiz, when they were eliminated.
Ana Pau lost in a very close match, which went to five sets, against the German Charline Schwarz, who beat the Mexican 6-4. In this way his participation in his second Olympic Games ended.
Same luck that happened Angela Ruizalso winner of the bronze medal along with her teammates. Ruiz fell to Bryony Pitman of Great Britain and said goodbye to Paris 2024.
For his part, Carlos Rojas said goodbye to the Olympic Games after being defeated in the round of 32 against the Turkish Berkim Tumer with a score of 6-4.
