NBA boss Adam Silver sees further room for improvement at the All-Star Game. A mysterious statement makes you sit up and take notice. The game is intended to “enthrall fans and players.”
The NBA is considering changing the format of the All-Star Game. “We all want to offer our fans better competition and more entertainment,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver before Miami’s gala against the Washington Wizards in Mexico City.
Apparently a move away from a “traditional game format” is also an option. However, the 62-year-old did not specify this statement. The fact is that the new format is intended to inspire not only the fans, but also the players.
Some of them had complained about the current mode in the past. “Of course it wasn’t high intensity,” Pacers professional Tyrese Haliburton commented on this year’s duel. Back then, the East triumphed with 211:186 after four traditional twelve-minute quarters. To help come up with ideas, Silver is now bringing Warriors star Stephen Curry on board. The two-time MVP will serve the league in an advisory capacity. The 2025 NBA All-Star Game will finally take place at the home of the Warriors.
All-Star Game 2025: Next format adjustment possible
It would be the next change within a few years. For example, instead of a classic clash between the East and West, a draft format with a final quarter without a time limit but with a target score was tested.
The 74th All-Star Game will take place on February 16, 2025 at the Golden State Warriors’ Chase Center. This will be the first time it will be held in San Francisco.
