Almere City FC will refund the 149 fans who bought a ticket for the 3-0 cup match lost to Quick Boys. Players and staff do this because they are ashamed, the club writes on the website.
The defeat on Wednesday evening meant elimination for the Almeers in the first round of the KNVB Cup. “The game shown and the results were far below par,” the club wrote.
“The team and staff are ashamed of last night’s poor performance. That is why they have decided to fully compensate all supporters who had purchased a ticket for Quick Boys – Almere City FC.” Supporters will be notified by email.
Important week
The club is in an important week that ends with an away match against RKC Waalwijk next Sunday at 4:45 PM. “We also desperately need the support of our loyal supporters for that match. Especially now! The away section is almost full. On to Sunday, so that we can cheer together again,” writes Almere City.
The Almere team won for the first time last week and is seventeenth in the Premier League. The team of coach Hedwiges Maduro has six points.
