Andrea Marcolongo rewarded for Running

The Jules Rimet Sport & Littérature association has named its 13th winner since 2012.

This Thursday, November 28 at the Trinquet de la Cavalerie in Paris, the thirteenth Jules Rimet Prize was awarded to Andrea Marcolongo, author of Courir, published by Editions Gallimard. After years spent between books and grammars trying to “think like the Greeks thought”Andrea Marcolongo wanted to learn to “run like the Greeks ran”. From the difficult beginnings to her goal – to run the marathon in the footsteps of Philippides, the first to accomplish this feat two and a half thousand years ago – she takes us on her discovery of this practice, while questioning it through a fascinating reading of ancient texts.

The Jules Rimet Sport & Culture Association presented Andrea Marcolongo with a check for €3,000 and a Red Star jersey bearing his name and number 13.

Also nominated this year were:

  • Alice Milliat, the Olympic wife of Sophie Danger (editions Les Pérégrines)The Immolated Icon by Lionel Froissart (editions En Exergue)
  • The Children of the Sea by Virginia Tangvald (JC Lattès editions)
