Novak Djokovic sensationally appointed former rival Andy Murray as his coach for the upcoming Australian Open.

Murray has only played and then backed off this summer and will try to help the Olympic Serbs win a record 11th title in Melbourne next year.

Djokovic announced this news through social media and said, “We have played with each other since we were young. For 25 years, we have been rivals pushing each other’s limits.

‘We had the most epic battle in our sport. They called us game changers, risk takers and history makers.

‘I thought our story might be over, but it turns out there is one final chapter. Now it’s time for one of my toughest opponents to step into my corner. Welcome to Coach… Andy Murray.’

Murray added: I will be joining Novak’s team in the off-season to help him prepare for the Australian Open.

‘I’m really happy and I look forward to spending time in the net with Novak for a change and helping him achieve his goals.’
