The contrast is impressive. In great difficulty facing the goal in the Champions League, Paris took place this Saturday evening on the Angers lawn (2-4), extinguishing all suspense before the break. For the fourth time this season in the league, the capital club has indeed won by scoring at least four goals against its opponent. Enough to satisfy Luis Enrique who arrived at a press conference looking like he was having bad days due to the death of his wife Rafael Pol, one of his deputies.
What is your feeling after this match which saw your team be so effective in front of goal?
LUIS HENRY. I would first like to say that this is an extremely sad day, because an important member of the staff, Rafael Pol, lost his wife today following a long illness. I want to share in his pain, give him strength and convey all my condolences to his family and loved ones. As for the match, I think it’s a very complete part of our team. We played the way we were supposed to. Some probably considered it an easy match, but there was a lot at stake, a real quality opposition, we were very effective. This blockage (editor’s note: offensive) will pass, it is the beginning of change.
“There will be a lot of goals in L1 and the Champions League”
This is the fourth time that Paris has won in Ligue 1 by scoring at least four goals. Is it a question of level or pressure if you stall in this area in the Champions League?
If we take the examples of Brest or Monaco, who scored a lot in the Champions League, this demonstrates that the level of the L1 is high. This team has good players, the quality is there, undeniably, regardless of the players on the pitch. Perhaps it is a question of pressure, of a sense of responsibility, perhaps too. But there will be a lot of goals in L1 and the Champions League. The quality is there and everything is in our hands to meet this challenge.
Are you more disappointed with the second period with less efficiency and two goals conceded?
(Ironic) The match should have stopped at half-time, when the Angers supporters threw tennis balls (editor’s note: in protest against the broadcasters), they probably wanted to play tennis. Yes, of course, I always want more goals but the opposing team plays too.
What do you think of Marco Asensio’s performance?
It seems to me that Marco Asensio played well, he made three assists. He is a top level player with the ball at his feet. It’s the same order as Kolo who also had a good match in second. I am happy when the players perform well on the pitch. When a number nine plays well, I’m satisfied. I don’t put any barriers in place when I put together my eleven, if the player trains well and shows it on the pitch.
