Angri Pallacanestro puts the turbo on and surpasses Piazza Armerina

Angri Pallacanestro finds its smile again. Coach Francesco Chiavazzo’s boys play a proverbial second half and score a victory (95-75) against Siaz Piazza Armerina. The Condors, which regulate the Sicilians, go like a diesel. The 20 are Milojevic (24), Martinez (23) and Mastrototaro (22), the latter coming off the bench. Double figures also for Valle (15).

Departure at a gentle pace. It’s Valle who tries to turn up the volume on the radio, with the basket and foul at 7-4. Milojevic follows him with free throws to make it 11-6. Martinez also wakes up, with the bomb of +8 (16-8). Milojevic continues to be a factor in the painted area and finds, still with the clock stopped, the points of 20-12. Bonanni’s layup gives the first double-digit lead (22-12).

Then an impossible basket by the returning Mastrototaro stops the score at 25-14. In the second period the guests try to get closer with Rotondo and Laganà (27-21). Ochipinti scores the half-hook for -4 (27-23) and leads coach Chiavazzo to have to call an urgent time out. Upon returning, Piazza Armeria continues its break with Manisi, who scores the bomb to make it 27-26. The Sicilians’ efforts are rewarded by Binelli’s tape in. But on the other hand Martinez moves the score from 6.75 (31-29).

The inertia, however, lies entirely with the guests, who overtake with Ochipinti (31-33). This time too it is Martinez who takes the chestnuts out of the fire with the torpedo of 34-33. The Angrese attack is entirely in the hands of the Argentine, who returns to shoot from the arc for 40-37. Piazza Armerina reacts again, but Milojevic’s late penetration keeps the Condors ahead by a full possession (42-39) at halftime.

Upon returning from the locker rooms, Valle reopens hostilities with a triple to make it 45-39. The Sicilian response is vehement with Minore and Farina (45-43). Martinez misses from long range and Milojevic scores +7 (50-43). The Serbian, together with Valle, continues his show for +11 (56-45). The counterattack finalized by Bonanni (58-45) this time leads the traveling team to stop the bleeding. Thus Mastrototaro takes the stage with free throws and the bomb of 65-48.

The Condors tighten their defense and on the other side Milojevic is able to find the target of 70-52. Ochipinti’s free throws bring the match, at the last break, to 70-54. After a period of offensive aridity, the excellent Mastrototaro breaks the deadlock, punishing the guest zone with two triples (76-58). The young Angrese is on fire and burns the retina again from 6.75 for 79-62.

Milojevic echoes him for the gap (82-62). Piazza Armerina tries not to give up, but is punished again by Mastrototaro with the sixth triple of the evening. Then Valle signs the +21 (87-66), which smells like the end credits. The exclamation point with the 92-69 bomb. The final loss is due credit to a match well played by the Condors.
