Another scandal in Armenian football: the Premier League club refused to participate in the match

The federation will pay off the club’s debts only in January 2025.

YEREVAN, November 21 – Sputnik. The match of the 17th round of the Armenian championship between champion Pyunik and FC West Armenia has been cancelled. West Armenia players refused to take the field in protest against the club’s management.

The fact is that the players of this major league team have not received their salaries for three months. And some foreign legionnaires even lost their rented apartments.

The Football Federation of Armenia promised to cover the club’s debts using the so-called “solidarity funds” allocated by UEFA. However, the Federation will do this in January next year.

The question of what West Armenia players will do without salary for a whole month and a half remains open.

It should be noted that according to the regulations of the Premier League tournament, if a team does not take the field twice, it is excluded from the Armenian championship.
