The third day of competitions passed in the XXXI Binational Games of Araucanía, which will continue until Friday the 15th in the Aysén Region, where Chubut continues to be the protagonist.
During the day Wednesday, in team sports, the regular phases began to close, facing the crossroads that will define who will fight for a podium, or a good final position.
Soccer to semi-finals
Very good news came from the Punta Arenas sub-headquarters, Magallanes region, since the Chubut soccer representatives, in both branches, reached the semifinals and will fight for the podium.
The women’s team had closed the regular round on Tuesday afternoon, after beating Los Lagos 3-0 and winning Group B.
With a rest day on Wednesday, on Thursday they will play the semi-final stage against the region of La Araucanía, which won zone A. The duel for a place in the final will begin at 9, at the Antonio Rispoli Díaz Fiscal Stadium.
On the other hand, the men, who with a tie on the final date was enough to qualify, beat Magallanes 4-1 and secured their place among the best four of the tournament. There they will face La Pampa, winner of group B. The match will be played at 3 p.m.
For the podium
In Cohyaique, the men’s volleyball team made it to the semifinals after the two wins obtained on Wednesday.
In the first round they comfortably beat Tierra del Fuego 3-0, while in the afternoon they did the same with Aysén, 3-1. In this way, the Chubutans were second in Zone A and will face La Pampa, winner of Group B, in the semifinals. The duel will be played on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Colegio San José.
The female volleyball team did not suffer the same fate. Despite the good 3-0 victory against Ñuble during the morning, which closed the first round, it was not enough to qualify for the championship round.
However, there will be no time for regrets since on Thursday the girls will begin to play the Stimulus round, where they will look for the best possible position to add good points to the general table.
Basketball could not
In Puerto Aysén the Chubut basketball representatives could not achieve the goal of entering the best four.
The Chubut men’s team closed the initial phase with a good victory against Los Lagos by 52-48, but it was not enough, since it finished third in zone C and will now have to play the Stimulus round.
For its part, the women’s team came close but couldn’t. The defeat at the close of the regular phase against Bío Bío by 44-32, eliminated the chances of qualifying for the semifinals.
However, you must wait for the final positions of each group to see which rival will play at the beginning of the Stimulus round, to find the best possible position.
