Arsenal have announced that Meadow Park will host their next UEFA Women’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich due to a scheduling conflict with the men’s team.
The club came under fire earlier this month after revealing it had been forced to move its December 18 group match away from the Emirates Stadium, in favor of the men’s team that drew with Crystal Palace in the quarterfinals. final of the Carabao Cup.
Following ongoing discussions with UEFA, it is understood that they have granted special dispensation for the match to be played at Arsenal’s former home, given the unique combination of factors that necessitated a new location.
Fans who have already purchased tickets will automatically receive a full refund and a 24-hour priority access window to purchase new tickets.
This window will open at 14:00 GMT on November 26 and tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans also received a “gesture of goodwill” from the club, including a complimentary ticket to a future WSL match at the Emirates this season, or a £20 retail voucher redeemable at The Armory or at Arsenal Direct.
In a statement issued by Arsenal, they said: “We thank members of our supporters groups throughout this time who offered valuable feedback which was reflected in our dialogue with UEFA. “We also thank UEFA for their collaboration in finding a viable result.”
Interim coach Renee Slegers had previously described the circumstances as a “difficult dilemma” and an “obstacle in the way” for the club’s broader women’s football strategy. Ahead of the 2024/25 WSL campaign, they announced that the Emirates would become the new home base for their women’s team.
At the time, they confirmed that the stadium would host at least eight WSL matches and at least three Champions League matches.
