Last Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, the VSS Badminton Department ended the season with the VSS/Raiffeisen Badminton State Championship in Bolzano. Around 30 U9 and U11 players demonstrated great skills in three disciplines.
The young badminton players played for the coveted VSS/Raiffeisen national championship title for U9 and U11 in singles, as well as for the VSS/Raiffeisen national championship title for doubles and mixed doubles for U11. Athletes from ASV Mals, ASV Überetsch, SC Meran and SSV Bozen were represented. VSS chairman Paul Romen also took the opportunity to say a few words to the newly crowned VSS/Raiffeisen national champions: “You were all able to shine today through a lot of hard work and ambition. I wish you much success in the coming VSS/Raiffeisen badminton season, but above all, joy in the sport.”
Among the numerous players, Finn Unterberger and Theresa Renner from ASV Mals particularly stood out. Finn Unterberger was able to win the VSS/Raiffeisen state championship title in the U11 boys category, in the boys doubles together with Mattia Ceol, also from ASV Mals, and in the mixed doubles alongside Theresa Renner. In addition to her victory in the mixed doubles, Theresa Renner also took second place with Natalie Anna Gitterle in the girls’ doubles and the VSS/Raiffeisen state championship title in the U11 girls category.
