Die Lausitzer Rundschau sucht den Sportler der Woche. Nominiert sind diesmal eine Judoka, ein Fußballer und eine Eishockeyspielerin, die in den vergangenen Tagen starke Leistungen gezeigt haben.
You have until Monday evening, November 25th at 11:59 p.m. to vote for your favorite. You can only vote online; votes cast by email do not count. These are our new candidates:
Judoka Simone Glenz from the Uebigauer Judo Sports Association
Simone Glenz secured the title at the Judo World Championships in the over-30 class. In all three fights in the “F4 – 63kg” class, the Lausitzer prevailed with a tactically clever and dominant performance.
Things got strange in the second fight when her opponent from India gave up early after she had already had no chance in the last encounter with Glenz. After twelve years, the 46-year-old, who now lives in Oranienburg, has once again won a world championship title, which she last won in Miami in 2012.
Footballer Fritz Pflug from VfB Krieschow
VfB Krieschow had to play at Optik Rathenow in the quarter-finals of the state cup – and ultimately won the duel between the two upper division teams from the North and South in a penalty shootout after 120 even minutes. Also thanks to goalkeeper Fritz Pflug.
The 1.87 meter man became a “penalty killer” and match winner, as the Krieschow team wrote in their match report, by saving three penalties. The 28-year-old was already in the Energie Cottbus II squad and has been a fixture in the VfB Krieschow team since the 2021/22 season.
Ice hockey player Charleen Poindl from the Lausitzer Füchsen
A few days ago, the German women’s national ice hockey team won 3-1 against Hungary and thus won the Germany Cup for the first time. Charleen Poindl from the Lausitzer Jungfüchsen was in the DEB women’s squad.
It wasn’t the 15-year-old’s first appearance in the DEB jersey. She has been part of the youth national teams since 2022, has already played for the U16 and U18 and has already scored three goals and seven assists during this time. Caroline Wagner and Isabell Manns from the Lausitzer Young Foxes also gained experience with the German U18 at the four-nation tournament.
How to vote: You can vote for your favorite at www.lr-online.de/sportlerderwoche until Monday (11:59 p.m.). Voting by email is not possible. The winner is then always recognized in the RUNDSCHAU with a winning photo.
How to suggest candidates: The sports editorial team selects the candidates. But we look forward to your suggestions. Send this by email to [email protected] – it would be nice if you included a short explanation, an age statement and, if possible, a photo of the athlete.
