Athletes from 13 states compete for badminton gold at the 2024 Oriente Games

With the participation of 68 athletes from 13 states of the country, this Tuesday, November 19, the badminton competitions begin at the Oriente 2024 National Games, which will take place in the covered gymnasium of the Los Guaritos campus of the UDO Monagas.

This was announced by Dhayisbel Torrealba, president of the Venezuelan Badminton Federation, during the technical congress of this discipline, where Luis Cornieles, technical director of High Performance of the Ministry of Sports, was also present, as well as representatives of all participating states.

Badminton is a racket sport in which two players (singles) or two pairs (doubles) face each other located in opposite halves of a rectangular court divided by a net, for which the UDO Los Guaritos court was reconditioned and thus comply with the required measurements and technical specifications.

In this discipline, teams from Guárico, Barinas, Yaracuy, Mérida, Miranda, Cojedes, Falcón, Caracas, Portuguesa, Aragua, Carabobo, Trujillo and Monagas will see action in the men’s and women’s categories.

The calendar begins with the eliminatory rounds on Tuesday the 19th and Wednesday the 20th, to play the quarterfinals and semifinals on Thursday the 21st, leaving the finals and the medal ceremony for Friday the 22nd.
Torrealba invited the entire population, especially young people and university students, to enjoy this sports specialty, which will begin its programming at 9 in the morning.
