Supported by the Sports Directorate and the International Relations Directorate, 33 athletes from the University of Chile, along with a team of coaches and delegates, will compete in the Pan American University Games. The athletes highlight their pride in representing the university and the country in disciplines such as athletics, judo, karate and table tennis.
There are 33 athletes from the University of Chile who will represent the country in the FISU América Games, also known as the Pan American University Games. Added to them a team of 8 coaches and delegates, officials of our study house.
The event brings together the best university athletes from more than 17 countries. The delegation from the University of Chile will compete in disciplines such as athletics, judo, karate, table tennisamong others.
Dylan Padilladirector of Sports and Physical Activity of the University of Chilehighlighted the collective effort behind this classification: “This is the work of years, of having carried out a regional campaign, a national campaign, and it is part of the work of the Sports Directorate and all its coordinations.”
The captain of the beach volleyball team, Ignacio Negretehighlighted the importance of this event to demonstrate the fruits of training: “I feel that they are super good instances to capture everything we are doing during the year, so I am super happy about this opportunity.”
For her part, the representative of the taekwondo team, Javiera Lopezwas excited about what will be her second international participation on behalf of the University: “It is quite difficult to combine studies with sports, but I feel that I have achieved it very well. I hope to get a medal; if gold is possible, it would be incredible.” .
International Relations Department supports university sports
This participation was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the International Relations Department, which has supported the financing of the trip, contributing to the internationalization of the athletes of the University of Chile.
Javier Loiscoordinator of the Student Mobility Program of the International Relations Department, indicated that sport is a fundamental area in the internationalization of the university community: “I hope to continue strengthening it, continue expanding, become known throughout the world and have more opportunities for globalization ”he added.
The athlete Christopher Muñoz He thanked the support received to travel and highlighted the possibility of representing the University internationally: “No one had to pay anything here, and that is very appreciated. I hope it will be a great experience. In sports, I am going to give my best.”
Finally, the director of Sports and Physical Activity, Dylan Padilla, He sent a message of support to the participants: “We wish you the best and we want this to be a great sporting, educational and professional experience within the university context.”
