Augusto Holds Firm on Ramón: How the Upcoming Dérbi Could Shape Corinthians’ Coaching Future

Ramón Díaz is under pressure at Corinthians. The recent eliminations in the Brazilian Cup and the South American Cup, especially due to the choices made by the coach, made the black and white board reevaluate the work of the current technical committee.

It is already a fact in the corridors of Parque São Jorge that Ramón Díaz will not be the team’s coach in January 2025regardless of the final stretch of this season. There are even the possibility of dismissal at the beginning of next week, if the result and/or performance in the classic against Palmeiras is unsatisfactory.

Dissatisfaction with Ramón Díaz’s work has been going on at CT Joaquim Grava for some time, coming from both managers and players and other employees. The coach’s stay is supported so far by president Augusto Melo, who fears a change in technical command in the midst of the decisive stretch in the fight against relegation in the Brazilian Championship.

Ramón Díaz evaluates his own work in a different way than the black and white board. After the elimination against Racing, this Thursday (31), the Argentine went so far as to classify his time as “excellent”, given the condition the club was in before his arrival.

With Ramón’s work in check, Corinthians welcomes Palmeiras in a game that will be decisive in the fight against relegation. Timão occupies 15th place in the Brazilian Championship table, with a point advantage over Z4.
