A police officer was injured on Sunday in Auxerre during clashes with supporters before the Auxerre-Rennes match (4-0), counting for the 10th day of Ligue 1, according to the Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau who denounced “behavior unacceptable”.
“Today, in Auxerre, a police officer was beaten while being attacked by Rennes supporters. Three suspects were arrested,” the minister said on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the daily newspaper l’Yonne Républicaine, clashes between Rennes supporters and the police broke out near the Abbé-Deschamps stadium an hour before the match. The police had to use tear gas.

A police officer fell to the ground and was injured by Rennes supporters, the newspaper adds. “This type of unacceptable behavior deserves the most exemplary of sanctions,” commented Mr. Retailleau in his message.
The Alliance police union published a photo of the police officer, specifying that the “pseudo” Rennes supporters had “attacked” their colleague.
