After a successful event last weekend, an away match was scheduled for last Saturday. The players of 2dA Smashing competed against Dunlop-DKC 1. They were allowed to travel to The Hague to compete against the number 3 in the group.
The first match kicked off with the women’s doubles of Maureen Zewald and Lieke Maes. They competed against Chloe Tsai and Jessica Huster. This match was won convincingly by the ladies with 21-8 and 21-11.
On the court next door, Freek Golinski and Casper Spaans were playing the men’s doubles, but the men unfortunately lost this match 12-21 and 18-21.
After the doubles matches, it was Rune van Dalm and Maureen Zewald’s turn for the men’s and women’s singles 1 in which Rune van Dalm had a tough match against Joran Kweekel and lost 10-21 and 6-21.
Maureen Zewald had an exciting match against Jaymie Laurens which she unfortunately lost. Both sets 18-21.
Then, with Marijn Put and Inger pothuizen, the gentlemen and ladies were only allowed to compete in 2. Here Marijn was able to score a point against Gijs Duijs with 21-10 and an exciting 25-23.
Inger also played a very exciting 3 setter where the point ultimately went to DKC-Dunlop with a final score of 15-21, 21-15 & 14-21.
Finally, the mixed doubles took to the court. Freek Golinski and Lieke Maes took to the track in good spirits. They came close twice, but unfortunately lost both sets 18-21 to Joran Kweekel and Jaymie Laurens.
The second mixed doubles was played by Marijn Put and Leonie Rovers, but unfortunately they lost 14-21 and 18-21.
In the end we returned from The Hague with 4 instead of 2 points! Due to the incorrect use of the strength list, the two mix points still went to Smashing. Final score: 4-4. We are currently in 5th place in the group!
Next week 2dA Smashing 1 will play another home match against Decorette BC Amersfoort 1! 7 p.m. in Sports Hall Achterlo in Wijchen. ‘Who’s coming to cheer us on!?’
