Badminton Federal Competition – BC Budel 1 – HAC Weekblad

BUDEL – After 5 rounds we can conclude that it is not quite the season of BC Budel 1 yet. With a 6e We are just shy of the bottom of a group of 7. But, as is often the case, a stand does not tell the whole story. Many parties were close together and fell just the wrong way.

The women’s doubles got off to a strong start this season. Caroline Kerbusch and Sandra Heijckers-van Melick are well attuned to each other and that was noticeable against Geldrop. The win was achieved in three riveting sets. In the same match, Perry Brom and Roel Damen were also doing well, with a big win in two sets for Budel. Roel also showed his value in his single.

The away match against Venray was disastrous with several exciting games but no points for Budel. It was a shame to lose Eddy Dupree and Perry Brom in the men’s doubles. The titanic battle was lost 25-23 in extra time of the third set.

Caroline played a strong single against Rudra United and Roel and Annemie Janssen were far too strong in the mix. Caroline and Sandra’s double was also won.

The home game against CT de Boer BCH 6 was very important with the teams on the 6e in 7e place in the group. Unfortunately, Roel was ill that day. But Eddy, Perry, Annemie, Sandra and Caroline provided the points, of which Caroline was the match winner with points in the doubles and singles. A 4-4 draw, we had hoped for more so we have to work in the away match.

The following week Veghel came to visit Budel. This time it was only the men who got the points. After Roel and Perry won the doubles, Roel played a magnificent single, overcoming a dip in the second set in the all-decisive third set. Eddy once again delivered a strong single while Caroline fell just short after a very exciting first set. Perry and Sandra had a chance to make it a draw in their mix. In an exciting third set, carelessness at the end ensured that the points went to Veghel.

The results:

  • BC Budel 1 – BC Geldrop 8 3-5
  • BC Venray 1 – BC Budel 1 8-0
  • Rudra United 3 – BC Budel 1 5-3
  • BC Budel 1 – CT de Boer BCH 6 4-4
  • BC Budel 1 – BC Veghel 67 3 3-5

We still have 7 matches to go where we will meet all competitors again, plus Roosterse BC twice more. Who knows, maybe things will turn out well on BC Budel’s side and we can still climb in the rankings. The atmosphere is no less and we continue to fight for points.
