Sports center 1 of the Chamilpa campus of the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (UAEM) was the scene of the X Copa Interfacultades 2024 badminton, which brought together approximately 50 athletes in various categories.
With good organization by the university sports management, four main courts and two training courts were set up so that the matches flowed smoothly, allowing the competitors to focus on obtaining the title of the best university racket.
The day began with the matches in different tables, under the supervision of experienced judges. This tournament has been key to the growth of the badminton workshop in the UAEM and promote the relationship with the Badminton Associationas well as opening opportunities for students within said discipline.
Among the participants, Leomar Maranan stood out, who recently represented the UAEM at the National University 2024 and reaffirmed his dominance in the internal men’s category, taking first place; In this category he was followed by Miguel Rodríguez and Marcos Cárdenas, placing second and third respectively.
As for the women’s branch, the winners were Daniela Olazcoaga who finished in first position, Dayana Orihuela and Ana Nazario complemented the podium.
The award ceremony was led by university authorities, who highlighted the work of Estefano Andrei Millán, responsible for the badminton workshop. They also added that these sporting events are part of the process to qualify for other events such as the National Universiade.
