*Italian Absolute and Para Badminton Championships 2024*
*After a month, Chiari will still be the stage for the titles
Italians*
The *Italian Absolute and Para Badminton Championships 2024* make a stop for the
first time in Chiari, where just a month ago the
Italian youth titles.
Now, the city of Clare is ready to host the best 150 talents of the
badminton, from 37 clubs, who will compete to win the
five Italian titles and the one reserved for the team competition.
In the *men’s singles*, Nicolò Volpi (Brescia Sport Più) will start from the top
number one seed, but will have to watch his back from the other heads of
series: Simone Piccinin (BC Milan), seeded number 2, Fabio Caponio
(CS Aeronautica Militare) and Emmanuel Perna (Castel di Iudica), both
seeded number 3/4. Among the outsiders there will be Luca Zhou (ASV
Mals), Enrico Baroni (GSA Chiari), Alessandro Gozzini (GSA Chiari) and the
Wild Card by Technical Director Christopher Vittoriani (MaraBadminton),
reigning champion.
In the *women’s singles*, the reigning champion Judith Mair (ASV Mals)
she will start as the number 1 seed. For her too, the challenges will not come
only from the top seeds: Emma Piccinin (BC Milan) will start from number 2
of the ranking, while Chiara Passeri (GSA Chiari) and Lidia Rainero (CUS
Turin) will be number 3/4. Other threats to Mair are posed by
Gianna Stiglich (GS Fiamme Oro) and Yasmine Hamza (SSV Bozen), both with
three titles already won, with this latest one potentially being the first
Mair’s opponent in the round of 32.
In the *men’s doubles*, the Brescian couple Giorgio Gozzini and Nicolò Volpi
(GSA Chiari/Brescia Sport Più) will start as the number 1 seed. Marco
Danti and Ruben Fellin (ASV Uberetsch/SSV Bozen) will be seeded
number 2, while the number 3/4 seeds will be Lukas Osele and Kevin
Strobl (ASV Mals/CS Aeronautica Militare) and Massimo Grotti and Tancredi Virzì
(Modena Badminton/SSD Ludens). Among the insidious couples, those stand out
formed by the reigning champion David Salutt (SSV Bozen) and Matteo
Massetti (MaraBadminton), Alessandro Gozzini/Luca Zhou and Gianmarco
Bailetti/Simone Piccinin (BC Milan).
In the *women’s doubles*, the reigning champion Martina Corsini (BC
Milan) will team up with clubmate Emma Piccinin, occupying the
seeded number 3/4. The other number 3/4 seed will be that one
formed by Alice Pellizzari and Lidia Rainero (BC Lario/CUS Torino). The
Ranking favorites are Sofia Galimberti/Anna Hell (ASV Uberetsch), head
series number 1, and Martina Moretti/Chiara Passeri (GSA Chiari), head of
series number 2. Among the outsiders, certainly Hanna Innerhofer and Hannah Mair
(SC Meran), as well as Silvia Garino and Adele Bobbio (Acqui Badminton), with the
before who has already won two titles in this discipline.
In the *mixed doubles*, Kevin Strobl and Judith Mair (no. 1 in the Italian ranking)
they will try to win the first Italian title of this season together
specialty. The main opponents will be Ruben Fellin/Sofia Galimberti
(n. 2), while the pairs seeded number 3/4 will be made up of
Giorgio Gozzini/Martina Moretti (GSA Chiari) and Matthias Frank and Carolin
Rauner (ASV Mals). Other couples who could aspire to the title include
Enrico Baroni and Chiara Passeri (GSA Chiari), David Salutt and Martina Corsini
(SSV Bozen/BC Milano), and Gianmarco Bailetti and Emma Piccinin (BC Milano).
In *Para Badminton*, Yuri Ferrigno (BC Milan) will try to conquer
yet another double winning both the WH1 men’s singles title and
the double WH team with Roberto Punzo (GSPD). In the singular
men’s WH2, the fight seems entirely internal to the GSPD, with Punzo, Piero
Rosario Suma and Salvatore Vasta ready to compete for places on the podium.
Punzo will also try to achieve the hat-trick by playing in the final of
mixed doubles WH together with Diana Luta, challenging Giuseppe Maurizio/Maria
Grazia Leone (ASAM/SEI).
In the WH women’s singles, the challenge will feature Diana Luta (Alba
Shuttle) and Maria Grazia Leone (SEI). In the men’s singles SL3, the challenge to
three will be between Tommaso Libertini (Genoa BC), Davide Posenato (BC Verona) and
Mattia Miotto (Padua Badminton). Finally, in the SU5 singles, Rosa De Marco
(GSPD) will have to contend with Gianfranco Iaconelli (ASAM) and Calogero
Sanfilippo (Easy Play).
