The Strasbourg resident Sharone Bauer and the Francilienne Emilie Vercelot (Saint-Maur), seeds n° 1 and 65es world championships, will play their second “International Series” tournament final in less than a month this Sunday in Sandefjord. And as luck would have it, they will find, around noon, those who deprived them of the title on October 20 in Prague at the Czech Republic Open, the Poles Paulina Hankiewicz and Kornelia Marczak, seeds 2 and 73es.
They will thus have the opportunity to take their revenge and make it three at the Norwegian Open, after their successes on Saturday over two other Polish pairs. First in the quarterfinals against Anna Czuchra and Julia Piwowar, 292es (21-9, 21-15). Then in the semis in front of Anastasia Khomich and Daria Zimnol, n° 3 and 79es whom they beat for the third time in as many confrontations (21-17, 21-10). They had already dominated them at the same stage of the Prague tournament on October 19 (21-15, 21-14), before – as has been said – losing extremely narrowly the next day to Hankiewicz and Marczak to the coronation (19-21, 22-24).
It is therefore against the latter, also crowned in Poland in September, that the ASPTTS player and her partner will try this Sunday to win their first “International Series”. After three duels, the Poles lead two victories to one. But the matches, all played since last December, have always been close. This fourth opposition should not escape the rule.
