Even before the start, the game between the first team from SC Itzehoe against the association league relegated SG Hammer/Altenholz/Molfsee 2 was not under a good star. With Sina Lindemann, Sonja Soltwisch and Ole Beyer, three players went into the game with injuries and Kai Hansen was completely unavailable, so team captain Dirk Kaack had to change his team in several positions.
At the start of the women’s doubles, the ailing Soltwisch/Lindemann started for the Störstädter and did surprisingly well, but narrowly lost in three sets. The mixed doubles and women’s singles were contested for the first time by young talent Carlotta von Leesen, who gave the around 70 loud spectators a strong performance. Although the women’s singles went to the favored Altenholzer after two competitive matches, von Leesen secured the only win of the day for the home team in the mixed doubles alongside Ole Beyer.
In the remaining games, the men’s superiority over the title favorites in the North Regional League was too great. In the men’s doubles, the Itzehoers played well, but were unable to win a set.
In the men’s singles, Schuldt, Nagel and Kaack only tied one set each, so that the hosts’ victory was well deserved at the end of 7:1.
The second Itzehoer representation also lost 7-1 to the third team SG H/A/M in the Langesliga Süd. Here, too, the chances of winning a point were greatest in the mixed doubles. After a strong start, Mareike Winkler and Stefan Mantey were defeated in three sets. It wasn’t enough for the Steinburgers to win another set.
The hosts scored their only point when the guests gave up due to injury in the first men’s singles.
The two SG teams continue to lead the national leagues without losing any points, while the Itzehoer teams are in the penultimate place in the table.
The next opportunity for the Störstädter first team to score important points will be next weekend with the away game at SG Großsolt/Munkbrarup.
