Like every year, the MotoGP World Championship has its last stop planned in Valencia. However, the celebration of this grand prize seems an increasingly remote possibility, at least in its original location. The catastrophe that the Valencian Community has suffered would in itself be a compelling reason to cancel the event, but in addition, the <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/11/jorge-martinez-aspar-if-there-are-two-circuits-that-should-not-have-alternation-they-are-cheste-and-jerez/" title="Jorge Martínez Aspar: "If there are two circuits that should not have alternation, they are Cheste and Jerez"”>Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste is located in the middle of ground zero. On its side, the sadly famous Barranco del Poyo that has wreaked destruction on the entire southern bank of the Turia. And it has also destroyed part of the access to the premises.
“Even at the cost of losing the title, I am not willing to race in Valencia,” Pecco Bagnaia, two-time world champion, clearly stated about his intention to maintain the Valencia Community GP dispute. Bagnaia is in the middle of the World Cup dispute with Jorge Martín. The Italian is 17 points behind the Spaniard, whom he hopes to reduce in the last two rounds, starting with the Malaysian GP, where he has already shown that he is one point ahead of his opponent by leading the first day. “I hope they take into account that on an ethical level, on the level of what is happening, it is not the correct situation,” said the Italian.
Jorge Martín, for his part, said that he would like to know the resolution as soon as possible. «It is important to know it for everyone. For now, I run as if there were another race, be it Valencia or somewhere else, because that’s probably what will happen. I’m going to go win and if I have the opportunity, I will take it; If not, then I will try to do the best I can, but it would be good to know for the two of us, who are playing for the World Cup, but, equally, it is obvious that we are going to have another race. If it isn’t done later, then that’s what I’ll take with me,” he said.
«The images are terrifying. We are far away, but we have felt it very close and it hurts a lot. For me, it would be a mistake to talk now about whether or not we have to race in Valencia, when there are people who have lost their lives, their homes, everything. All resources must be allocated to these people. The rest, the events, sporting or non-sporting, remain completely in the background,” said Marc Márquez.
Cancellation is on the table, but so is another circuit (Spanish or not) being able to host that last event of the year, which on a sporting level, should be decisive for the MotoGP title.
