Sixteen days before the start of the sixth edition of the Africa Cup of 3×3 basketball in Madagascar, from November 29 to December 1 at the Mahamasina Sports Palace, the Malagasy Basketball Federation or FMBB, with all partners, notably Telma, Radisson Blu, Canal +, ‘Africa Cup of Basketball 3×3.
It was an opportunity for all parties concerned to show their determination for the success of this continental contest.
“The reception of the Africa Cup of 3×3 basketball in Madagascar is not the result of chance. Fiba Africa, the highest African basketball authority, took into account several parameters to justify this choice: welcoming Malagasy public, serious organization of the local federation while respecting international standards according to the specifications, involvement of the State and public and private partners, commitments from different actors such as the media and journalists, volunteers, security and many others,” confides Jean Michel Ramaroson, president of the FMBB.
Enhanced security
The organizing committee, chaired by General Nina Ruphin Zafisambo, is already set up and in full action to make the sporting event a success.
“Organizing an African championship, especially in 3×3 basketball, is very difficult and very burdensome for the organizing country. This is why the existence of Telma as a Presenting partner is essential. The Malagasy State, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, is the first official sponsor for the holding of this African Cup at home. Canal + ensures the transmission of the event on the African continent, without forgetting the importance of all the very committed partners,” insists the president of the FMBB.
This African Cup is very important because it qualifies for the World Cup for the winners in the women’s and men’s categories.
The president of the Africa Cup 2024 organizing committee, Nina Ruphin Zafiambo, insisted on the fact that “security will be very reinforced during the event”.
Madagascar aims to go far and the president of the FMBB did not say the opposite: “What awaits the two Ankoay national teams is not at all a cakewalk. But I trust our players. They will face a great challenge by facing twelve countries for men and ten for women, all of which are showing great progress, such as Algeria, number 1, Egypt, Kenya and Benin. But we like to take on the challenges to go all the way. In order to achieve the objective, we need the support of the public,” concludes Jean Michel Ramaroson.
